Jeff and Julie Matthews have just returned from Chateau de la Cazine after a 3 day stay in the beautiful French countryside  in Limousin. . This was Jeff’s seventh visit   to this stunning Chateau, so why does he feel compelled  to write about it this time? Quite simply, this is the first time he’s been with his visitor hat on – not his IQ hat!

“As a guest, you tend to appreciate the place through different eyes.

For our many investors, rest assured – the hotel was pretty much full and the restaurant was busy every day for lunch and dinner. The great news is that   this will ensure all our investors will be earning returns from 1 July.”

The Head Chef David Boyer produced the best quality food they think they have ever tasted. They spoke to a few of the guests whilst they were there and they all unanimously agreed that David’s food is well deserving of a Michelin star.

“The weather last week was very pleasant indeed, allowing us to enjoy an aperitif on the terrace The restaurant itself is a joy to dine in and the team of Christel, Astrid and George work tirelessly to ensure your meal is a memorable  experience .

We stayed in Suite 16 (which is the room we have personally invested in) and found everything just perfect. The views from the window towards the lakes, the comfort of the beds and the luxuriously appointed bathrooms made our experience even more special.

Each bedroom has a large flat screen TV with access to a multitude of channels (including the main UK terrestrial channels).”

As you will probably know, the master plan for the Chateau is to launch a 5 star resort that will include an amazing Spa within the 16th century Petit Chateau and an 18 hole golf course that will meander around the beautiful surrounding countryside.

“In the meantime, we found time to use the Chateau’s bikes to cycle to the lakes and explore thepeaceful grounds. We also managed to grab some time to try out the newly refurbished tennis courts on site  too. Again – all the equipment was provided for us.

The outdoor swimming pool was in full use and provided a nice tranquil setting to unwind and take some welcome relief from the warm French sunshine. Once the golf course is complete there will be some great views from the infinity pool over the closing holes.

The Chateau team, under the watchful eye of the General Manager, Philippe, are constantly working hard to ensure that all guests are looked after in a way that is unobtrusive but friendly.

We also took time to check the progress of the existing Village renovations into apartments. Work is now well underway and completion of these properties looks set for the end of 2013.
